About

I founded Laurel Leaf Massage and Wellness Studio, LLC to help my clients live happier, healthier, more comfortable lives. Although I work with and welcome clients of all ages, I hold additional certification in geriatric massage and am trained to work safely with elderly clients. I am happy to coordinate with doctors and physical therapists as part of your overall healthcare team.

I have much respect and gratitude for Western medicine, yet I also recognize some big gaps in our modern medical system. It is fragmented, impersonal, and often seeks profits from illness rather than promoting wellness. I see massage an excellent way to help fill these gaps. Massage is proven to reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and trauma and helps relieve pain and prevent future injury. It has so many benefits -- while also being a pleasant and low-risk therapy for most people.

At Laurel Leaf, I am committed to providing a welcoming, non-judgmental practice where each client feels safe, heard, and valued as the unique person they are. I believe everyone and every body has value and deserves respect and care.

Treatment is individualized for each client and I’m happy to coordinate with other medical or mental health professionals to develop holistic treatment plans. I welcome older clients, those who have experienced trauma or suffer from PTSD, and those with medical conditions who may need special accommodation or patience while receiving body work.

Laurel Leaf is a safe and welcoming space for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Certified in Geriatric Massage from Daybreak Geriatric Massage Institute

Trained in massage for clients with multiple sclerosis (MS), hot stone massage, and cupping therapy from American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA)

As a longtime client of massage, I've experienced firsthand its ability to reduce pain and relieve stress. This led me to want to help others achieve the same results. I view massage as one valuable piece of an overall healthcare practice that can help us remain healthier and more comfortable as we age.

Before completing the Therapeutic Massage program at Ivy Tech, I worked for twenty years in technology and science-related marketing and communications roles, and continue to work as a consultant supporting research computing organizations.

When not working, I spend time with my engineer-turned- homebuilder husband and our blended family of three amazing, hilarious, quirky kids. I am a travel enthusiast who has visited 44 states and 14 countries so far. I studied English and Comparative Literature as an undergraduate and Public Affairs in graduate school. I love experiencing the world’s exciting and diverse literature, art, music, and cultures.

About the studio

Laurel Leaf is a home-based studio with a separate entrance in a quiet Northside neighborhood, convenient to both Bloomington and Ellettsville. We have a dedicated, covered parking spot for clients (no paying or hunting for downtown parking!)

After parking, just follow the Laurel Leaf stepping stones through the gate, to the back deck where you will find the studio entrance.

The studio is private and has an attached, restroom dedicated to clients. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of cleanliness, thoroughly disinfecting the space between each client.

Masks are not required for clients, but I am happy to wear one at your request. I am fully vaccinated for COVID 19 and keep myself current on all boosters, as recommended by the CDC.

Please note: Being a home-based studio, Laurel Leaf is unfortunately not fully accessible. You must walk a short, uneven path and climb two steps to enter. If you have mobility challenges, please contact me to inquire about possible house call options.

Payment, cancellation,

no-show, and late arrival policies

Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, cash (exact change only, please), or personal check.

Laurel Leaf will send appointment reminders by text or email 48 hours prior to your scheduled time. All appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled a minimum of 24 hours before the scheduled start time to avoid being charged a cancellation fee equal to the full cost of your scheduled service. Please call, text, or email if you need to reschedule.

I will make exceptions for sudden illness, injury, or family emergencies so long as you contact me prior to the start time of your scheduled service. Please do not come to your appointment if you are ill or recently injured! Just contact me as early as possible so I can offer your appointment to another client.

If you arrive late, I will do my best to honor as much of your service time as possible, to the extent that it doesn't make me late for the following client. If you know you're running late and can safely text to let me know, please do so.

No exceptions will be made for no-shows due to forgotten appointments. Thank you for understanding and respecting that massage is my livelihood and by booking an appointment you are agreeing to pay for the time you reserve. If you forget to show up for your appointment, I am unable to book another client into that time slot and would simply lose my income for that time. Don't worry; I won't hold it against you! I understand we're all human -- and I appreciate your understanding of this policy.
